Mladi evangeličani iz ZDA v Prekmurju

Lindsyjina prva vožnja na motorju

07.07.2007

Tokrat so mladi evangeličani obisk vrnili.

July 1st was quite possibly the most anticipated day of my life. It would be my first airplane ride and I would finally reunite with Tamara, who stayed with me in America last summer. Last summer a group of Slovenian youth stayed with host families in America, and this year the eight American youth and two adults are being hosted by the same families this summer. After many hours of waiting in the airport and in the airplane, we finally arrived in Vienna and met up with our Slovenian friends! It was a very warm welcome and I couldn’t be happier to finally see Tamara again! She has become like a sister to me and I love her like my sister. When we finally got to her house I met all of her family and they are all wonderful people. I am very grateful that I am so welcome in her family’s home. Everyday we have coffee outside on the porch which is my favorite time of day. The second day I was here I met Pastor Simon. His English is very good so I was happy to talk to him. Pastor Simon asked me to come to his church the next day to talk to a group of confirmation students. I went to talk to the students about Christianity in America and other things about life in America and I was also given to chance to ask questions about Christianity in Slovenia and other things about the country itself. After talking to the group of students, Pastor Simon took me to the Castle Grad. It was an amazing castle and very interesting. After that we went to an Herb Garden and also a restaurant where I had my first Slovenian pizza.  I learned a lot that day. The next day a group of Slovenian and American kids went to Terme 3000 for the day which was a new experience for most of the American kids. It was a lot of fun and very tiring. While I have been in Slovenia I have eaten a lot of new things, but my favorite is Palacincas. On the 5th of July all the Americans and Slovenians got together for a Picnic in Skakovci. We played volleyball and ate a lot of good Slovenian food. The next day I talked to the group of confirmation students again with Pastor Simon and talked to them about my church back home. After that we went to the pub across the street for coffee and I also tried my first Spritzer. Also, I met three very important people in the area, the mayor, the head of the school district, and the head of a building company. I also met a very nice waitress, Natasa. Later that day I went on my first motorbike ride with Pastor Simon which was a great rush and a lot of fun. The next day Tamara and her father and I, along with the rest of the American kids and their host familes, went on a plane ride around Prekmurje to see all the sights in the area. It was an amazing view and I took lots of pictures. On Sunday, the 8th, I read in Slovenian in church and Tamara read in English. I love the Slovenian language and I try to learn as much as I can. The whole church service was fascinating and somewhat different from mine in America. After Church there was a picnic for Ines’ Birthday which lasted all day. On July 9th I took my first tractor ride to a field with tamara and her family. It was fun especially since I’ve only ever seen the tractors ride around at home. The next day we woke up at 1 AM to go to Venice, Italy. We took a boat to Morano Island to see the glass factory then took a boat on the Adriatic Sea to Venice! I have never seen something so amazing in my life. It was truly fascinating! We had a very good tour guide who explained what all the buildings were and the history behind them. I took over 150 pictures and we also took a Gondola ride through the city. We were able to look down in the water and see how the city was built on pillars. We went shopping a little bit and had lunch and then finally headed back on the bus to Slovenia. It was a very fun but tiring day. The next day we relaxed and I met Tamara’s brother, Dominik, who had been in Slovakia training for a ping pong tournament. That night we went to the Sports center and played volleyball for a while. The next day, today, I went to the church again to help Pastor Simon with a different group of students. We played soccer, had lunch, read a bible lesson, and then illustrated it with chalk on the blacktop. And now here I am writing about my experiences in Slovenia over the past week and a half. I look forward to another amazing week and a half where we will be going on a 2 day bus tour throughout Slovenia. My experiences here have been life changing and have made me realize that only God can create something as beautiful and wonderful as Slovenia, along with all the great people who live here.

Naslednji dan smo skupaj z vso ameriško mladino šli v Terme 3000, kjer smo preživeli čudovit dan, poln zabave in novih izkušenj za vse nas.
In sedaj sem tukaj in pišem o mojih doživetjih tukaj v Sloveniji v tem tednu in pol.
